Paddle Size depends on a few critical factors
1. Body Type
2. Paddling Style (Flare out-longer vs. Straight up/forward-Shorter)
3. Type of Boat (BUK, 6-16, Champion, Gemini)
4. Type of Team Mix or Gender
5. Where you sit in the boat (Higher front and back/ Lower middle)

Rules of thumb:
- Top hand should never be high above forhead during stroke. This puts a lot of stress on the shoulder and can lead to injury.
-Paddle Tip should be 1-2" Above water on recovery.

-If you find your self having to drop your top hand to clear the water, or your top hand is shooting above your forehead just to clear the the water your paddle is probably 1-2" to long. If you are the "Paddler" that no one wants to sit in front or back of because you splash...you know who you are:)
